Egypt Literacy Project
Approximately 50% of all adult women are illiterate with that percentage rising to
near 70% in rural areas. This is due to the old custom of giving preference to boys
over girls in all aspects of life, including education. The economic strains families
face cause them to not send their daughters to school, or to take their daughters out
of school, handicapping them for life.
Project proposal:
Teach 500 women how to read, write, do basic math, and learn micro enterprise
business principles.
Two year project.
Target start date June 1, 2007.
$75 per student.
Total project cost $37,500.
Our Mission To inspire women around the world by promoting wellness, education and economic opportunities.
