Secondary and Higher Education Grants
“Research consistently shows that education for girls is one of the most effective – if
not the most effective – investments a nation can make to improve the health and
prosperity of present and future generations. “ (savethechildren.org - Mother’s
Report 2005)
Poverty and discrimination are huge barriers to girls’ education in many parts of the
world. Male children customarily receive preference over female children. There are
far-reaching positive effects in societies where girls are afforded educational
opportunities. Countries that educate their girls have higher survival rates for
children. Educated girls are more likely to marry later and bear fewer children, the
children they do have are healthier, and they will have a higher family income. In
addition, educated mothers are more likely to invest their earnings in education for
their children.
