2010 Project Highlights
Wellness Projects
-Birthing Center in the DRC
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an association of women has built a birthing
center to assist women in childbearing. They are seeking funds to better equip this center,
specifically for the purchase of items such as beds, bassinets, a water filter, and sterilizers.
About 35 babies a month are delivered at the center.
Total project cost $2,000
-Trafficking Prevention Program in Bangladesh
This project targets six provinces of Bangladesh where an average of 50 girls a day are
trafficked across the border into India and Pakistan to a life of forced prostitution. This two
year community training project expects to bring needed awareness of the problem to over
10,000 people.

Education Projects
-Women's Social Civic Training Center in the DRC
Igaju requests funds to develop women's social activities throughout the region; they want
to build a social activity center where they would host classes that focus on understanding
the basics of women's health, and counseling sessions for women in need.

-Literacy and Vocational Training for AIDS victims in Rwanda
This two year project conducted by Franciscan nuns will assist vulnerable young women
with AIDS by placing them in a supportive group and teaching them to read, write, and do
math at a basic level. They will also be trained in sewing.

Economic Projects
-Tailoring Project for Rape Victims in the DRC
ASDI, a women's empowerment organization in Eastern DRC, requests funds to help with
the Goma Women's Tailoring Project. This program hopes to raise the standard of living of
rape victims and young mothers by teaching them tailoring skills.

-Microloan Group in Uganda
This women's group seeks funds to expand their small but successful microfinance
network. This two year project will fund microloans for 60 women.
